Since its establishment in 1967, the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service has worked to preserve and promote the state’s ecological and cultural heritage. Presiding over 850 national parks, which cover a staggering 7 million hectares, their ambit covers the full extent of biodiversity present in New South Wales.
The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service needed a pocket guide that would serve as a convenient companion for tourists who want to get the most out of the national parks. The guide would ideally impart a richer understanding of the parks, capturing their physical beauty, as well as containing practical information about their visitor facilities. Working at the heart of the guide’s production, Dimes contributed key elements of the graphic design, print design and image selection and retouching that established the guide’s visual identity. The consequent clarity and consistency helped make the Pocket Guide a success.
Since its publication in August 2013, 108,400 copies of the guide have been distributed throughout New South Wales bringing the state’s natural endowments to thousands. Coherent with the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service’s ecological mission, the Pocket Guide was printed on recycled paper using vegetable based inks.
